Disciplinary development stems from innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration provides guarantee for full recovery. On October 16, the 2019 Chongqing Multidisciplinary Seminar in the Field of Neurological Rehabilitation & Multidisciplinary Seminar of Rehabilitation, Neurology, Pain Treatment and Sleeping is successfully held in Chongqing Wanyou Conifer Hotel.
It is reported that the Seminar is held by Chongqing Association of Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons and undertaken by Hemony Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Liu Hongliang, director of Department of Rehabilitation of The First Hospital Affiliated to AMU (Southwest Hospital), and Zhan Qunling, director of Department of Neurology of The Fifth People's Hospital of Chongqing, are invited to the Seminar as chairmen. At the Seminar, several experts and professors share special topics on the new progress in promoting diagnosis and treatment of myodystony, pain and sleep.
Professor Gao changyue, director of Department of Rehabilitation of Daping Hospital, shares?his thoughts on the mechanism, definition, classification and treatment of spasms. He emphasizes that, when regional and systemic muscle spasms occur, baclofen could be preferentially selected for treatment, and when baclofen is ineffective, it could also be combined with other muscle relaxants, with which the muscle spasms are rarely irreducible.
Professor Yu Hongjun, from Department of Rehabilitation, The First Hospital Affiliated to AMU (Southwest Hospital), mainly shares the clinical application of anti-spasm drugs, and compares two major types of drugs for myodystony, central and peripheral. She says that baclofen is the first drug to treat myodystony in the Department of Rehabilitation of Southwest Hospital and it has been used clinically for more than 15 years; although there are many muscle relaxants, baclofen is still the most commonly used and effective drug to reduce myodystony and can be used as the first choice for muscle spasm.
Professor Jiang Xiaojiang from the Department of Neurology of Daping Hospital shares anesthesia, PTSD and sleep disorder. He also mentions that trazodone, a therapeutic drug for sleep disorders in General Department, has remarkable curative effect, can be combined with non-benzodiazepine drugs to make people quickly fall asleep, and can also significantly maintain the night sleep of patients. Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Adult Insomnia in China (2017) co-written by Jiang Xiaojiang indicates that trazodone is especially suitable for the treatment of insomnia with depression/and (or) anxiety. Compared with tricyclic antidepressant, trazodone has no or very little anticholinergic activity. It is suitable for patients with depression, severe sleep apnea syndrome and history of drug dependence, and is a very suitable choice for doctors in General Department to treat sleep disorders.
Professors Liu Hongliang and Zhan Qunling, chairmen of the Seminar, conclude that myodystony and sleep disorders are currently the major concerns of departments; multidisciplinary exchange is of great significance; such kind of academic activity is what our doctors hope to participate in as it can better help doctors deal with complicated diseases, and it is expected to be extensively popularized by means of lectures, so that more doctors can know how to control muscular tension and how to improve sleep disorders to help patients recover fully.
